Jessie Stead: Beaded Interludes (Dusk)

hosted by Honey’s 93 Scott Ave. Brooklyn,NY  - Sunday, October 4th 4pm-11pm  (Dusk event: 6-8pm)

JAG projects presents Jessie Stead: Beaded Interludes (Dusk) hosted by Honey’s in Bushwick, NY. Stead’s intermittently produced light works Beaded Interludes will be architecturally installed across the facade of Honey’s in their first iteration outdoors. The ambience of nightfall’s diminishing light will gradually foreground these work’s multi-colored, saturated glow in their attempt to objectify the temporal space of dusk, one of the earth’s most popular naturally occurring interludes.

The long, vertical illuminations are made with gravity, electricity, and sequences of synthetic rubber balls threaded electronically by strings of LED lights. Varied colors, textures and opacities filter the internal luminance in glowing optical rhythms. Slowly brightening in the decreasing atmospheric light of the advancing nocturnal landscape, this time-based light change highlights Beaded Interlude’s overlooked connection to analogue cinema and celluloid filmstrips. Dusk approaches and descends like a swift and graceful cameo.

Join us before sundown for this one night event. With socially distanced drinks, food, and masked chit-chat at Honey’s sidewalk patio. The installation is also viewable by car or walk by.

Try Honey's dusk inspired drink BB JUICE, a slushee float, with tequila, yellow chartreuse, orange pineapple and St. Crimson black currant mead.
